RockmusicRaider - AC/DC - Power Up - Album Cover

It’s jolly good that RockmusicRaider‘s scope is wider than the old gods allow. To cover metal, rock, and folk in one giant sweep indeed gives us leeway larger than the swagger of Mick Jagger. So, in this sense, we can easily take on pieces that were not forged in the steely metal mills that other reviewers oblige themselves to operate in.

Instead, we can freely go to those places where rock’n’roll is still dirty, blazing hot, and the lyrics are steamy. Of a time-tested brand that never really changes. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.… [...] Click to raid more!

RockmusicRaider - Aphonic Threnody - The Great Hatred - Album Cover

What marches majestically across this stony, desert-dry Doom Death Metal soundscape? A thing that loudly creeps about its darkened realm at almost funeral speed.

The RMR deck crew recently took a liking to high-intensity, super-octane Extreme Metal records that will just blow you away by sheer force. Or at least try to. And – second – we have it with duos this year. Bands that only consist of two members. I have no explanation why 2020 turns out this way, but it does.

So, this time it is Anaal Nathrakh‘s time to shine. And before you grow yourself any silly ideas, the name means … [...] Click to raid more!

RockmusicRaider - Aleynmord - The Blinding Light - Album Cover

The exception proves the rule, right? You see, we have this doctrine over here. The one that said that thou shalt cover no instrumental record. Lest you pollute RMR’s belief that good rock’n’roll and metal must contain lyrics. But will a record with scarce wording and even stranger howling fall under that very same denomination?

Well, with Aleynmord‘s debut album The Blinding Light one could argue that the weird screams actually are lyrics. Which they ain’t until one of those rare moments arrive that could qualify as a lyrical performance. Or maybe there’s more of this, only that … [...] Click to raid more!
