Is it fall yet? Not quite. But doom ‘n’ gloom promptly appears on the menu again. And this time, wistful roaring reaches us from the cold and windy island nation of the UK.

Together with their brethren from Bradford, Paradise Lost pretty much set the gold standard for all things doom over the years. Especially their return to in-yer-face tearful woe with The Plague Within indeed cemented this act’s place in Doom’s Hall ov Fame.

Ah, damn. Vacations make you miss things. When good ol’ RMR was pounding the sand and playing with giant squids, Paradise Lost here snuck in a clip right from Ze Kingdom Ov Doom. 2020 turns out to be the year of doom in more ways than one. A year that feels more surreal than most.

But fear not.

It looks like many artists were clairvoyant and followed up with a literal deluge of well-crafted Doom Metal of all sorts. Steely, rock hard, and tearfully arranged sorrow and pain. For the avid metalhead to pass the year in comfort, weird as it may be.

Chameleons rule. Small lizards prone to sneak about trees, to look at you weirdly, and change color whenever it suits them. The terror of insects of any kind – one hit of their sticky tongue and their victims are history. Well, that’s the animal kingdom.
