RockmusicRaider Newsflash - Words That Burn - Regret is for the Dead - Mirror Perfect MannequinJudging by their former video work, this is the Irish band Words That Burn‘s most elaborate project yet. And indeed: Mirror Perfect Mannequin from their late album Regret is for the Dead (Wormholedeath Records) dazzles with a stunning choreography.

Hints of threats lurking in the shadows somewhere around you. Colors ranging only from white over a gazillion shades of grey to black the story exude an expertly orchestrated sense of menace that will not leave you throughout the length of the clip. You won’t see any frenzied drummer hitting their kit like the Animal from the muppets. Nor do we have to watch some exaggerated theatrics by some guitarist.Got hooked? Raid this some more...

RockmusicRaider Newsflash - Silver Dust - The Age of Decadence - Album CoverSometimes you will find a record that has this knack to hook you, but you have no idea why. It is some sort of visceral pull that makes you come back for more. So happened with the somewhat unorthodox Swiss Rock band Silver Dust and their latest album. The band rose from the ashes in the year of the Lord 2013. And immediately released a first record, which spawned a single of some local acclaim. In 2016, their second album The Age of Decadence released through Escudero Records. This allowed them to get in front of some reputable venues, opening for acts like Amon Amarth, Nightwish or – Loki help me – the Finnish ogres LordiGot hooked? Raid this some more...

Newsflash: Loathfinder and the Great Tired Ones!

RockmusicRaider Newsflash - Loathfinder - The Great Tired Onces - Album CoverAh, methinks that the RMR team moves fast and furiously down that danger infested and tribulation-laden Doom Metal road lately. And down it goes, ever down this slippery pathway, until you hit the flagstones in yonder dark cave. This is where Loathfinder dwell and blast off their début offering The Great Tired Ones, signed to Godz of War Productions

Their brand of Blackened Doom Death Metal comes with a heavy slugging sound, seemingly telling of some unknown terror moving down on you. I just get a kick out of these downturned guitars and the low-fi growls that, together with the doomishly slow tempo, just seem to grind your bones into the ground.Got hooked? Raid this some more...

Newsflash: When Heepy turns Purple!

RockmusicRaider Newsflash - Avi Rosenfeld - Very Heepy Very Purple VI - Album CoverI am usually not a very eager fan of tribute bands. Rehashing stuff in a style already invented can lead to no good, now can it? But some of them are good, you’ve got to give it to them. And their overall goodness ain’t coming from doing covers (as many do), but applying a style or genre to their very own production. At least in part.

The RockmusicRaider offices were in contact with the Israel-based Avi Rosenfeld for a while, and in the beginning we were sceptical. But the first listen of their newest album Very Heepy Very Purple VI kind of turned things around. The band goes full Stoner Hard Rock on you with a style harking back to Uriah Heep, Deep Purple and Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow.Got hooked? Raid this some more...

Newsflash: The Riven caught a Blackbird!

RockmusicRaider Newsflash - The Riven - Blackbird - Album CoverSome records just put a smile on your face. No hesitation at all to take them on and into the pipeline; and get your fingers hacking away at the keyboard. The tune just talks to you. And this is how it should be, if you feel like covering some juicy rock piece.

Well, this so happened with the début EP Blackbird from the UK-based band The Riven. Now, if you are looking for some London accent on this record, think again. Instead the band seems – at times – to step straight out of the Bourbon fueled swamps of Louisiana, where many musical delights are from.Got hooked? Raid this some more...
