Well, I’ll be damned. The RMR zine just proudly stepped across the threshold of one thousand music reviews. And this count doesn’t even include the plethora of lists, editorials, opinions, and other musings that saw the light of day over time.

Frankly, the crew here never thought this would be possible one day. After all, unceremoniously treading on bands’ artistic freedom remains a side hustle at best with a day job and life challenges in full swing. Over the years we covered a whole bunch of female interpreters that more or less prominently appeared on the RMR zine at some point in time. And this at a rate of some 25% of all reviews done to date.

Now, let’s be clear.

There will be no quota for anything on this blog, so don’t get your hopes up. We’re not going down silly road and die the painful death of fucking political correctness. Nor will there be any single-minded preference towards any type of interpreter on this blog.

Admitted. We don’t do those all that much anymore. I mean, RMR policy pretty much directs its unpaid and overstretched wordsmiths to focus on the current year and not lose time on smelly old items of different couleur. But sometimes we can’t resist and have a go at some dusty old record that quietly wastes away in a swampy corner somewhere. So, here’s to a short list of olde records that made us break the rules.

Controversy sells, we all know that. That, and a fair dose of authenticity and trve geekery in whatever art you may excel in. The music industry is fairly famous for some of the more outrageous specimens. Rough, dirty, and often otherworldly provocations reach us not only in the form of dreary soundscapes but surely through moving pictures that often darkly glow with dreadful cinematography and worse live shows.
