RockmusicRaider Review - Lacuna Coil - Dark Adrenaline - Album CoverFirst impression: Talk about crispy and – yes – meaty. Very meaty! Thundering bass, scratchy, corny – all that jazz!

This is how the 6th studio album Dark Adrenaline of the Italian band Lacuna Coil presents itself at the opening. And with some nice and very metal tunes to boot.

Or should we say ‘would like’ to present itself?

Because on the other hand, whilst definitely rocky and straightforward, the record kind of sounds like Evanescence in The Open Door without lithium. Yet again, Andrea Ferro‘s Amorphis-esque interludes do undoubtedly add a lot of crunch to bring that [...] Click to raid more!

Amaranthe – The Nexus (2013) – Review

Wow! We found ourselves some nexus here. Right? The Rasmus on steroids with a taste of Britney Spears! And this featuring a female front and two more male singers – one clear voice, the other growls.

It is kind of a vocalist overkill of sorts. And all that voodoo is delivered without the feathers that you would have gotten from Lauri and his gang! For sure, the tunes are catchy, fast, kind of Power Metal and well produced (even too well produced). But – gosh – it just sounds to me like so much George Michael on steroids teamed up with some pop queen.

Then they must have met some hairy guys, and started to distort guitars, adding some sort [...] Click to raid more!

Diabulus in Musica – Argia (2014) – Review

RockmusicRaider Review - Diabulus in Musica - Argia - Album CoverWhoa! Now some of the fans are going to be pissed off. So many very good reviews heaping praise on this record. And I just cannot get too warm with it.

We talk about Argia, the 3rd full-length album of Diabulus in Musica. Oh yeah, ’tis the one – the much awaited and hyped about. Once again, Argia is very complex fare, like their last one The Wanderer. And beautifully interpreted by Zuberoa Aznàrez, the delighting female front of this very talented band in tandem with Gorka Elso and the rest of the band.

Both founded the band [...] Click to raid more!
