Faun – Hex (2025) – Review

Faun has been a frequent ‘guest’ of this zine over the years. The RMR crew got to know them once Von Den Elben took some more mainstream undercurrents by storm. The record was a revelation, unlike the forced Wardruna copycat feel that their previous pieces always induced. This drew a total shitstorm of ire from their hardcore fans and led the band to start pulling back from their newfound freedom after a while. Fast forward to Pagan of 2022, Faun‘s fare started to center yet again in the more esoteric form of Pagan Folk. It was interesting to see

True, some of that fare was a tad light-minded, but the RMR crew here did enjoy that new refreshing wind blowing down from the German heartland. By the time Midgard released, a motley selection of style directions appeared. A somewhat uneasy mix of old-time ethereal tracks and the lighter … [...] Click to raid more!

RockmusicRaider - Kanseil - Cant del Corlo - Album Cover

Since we stumbled across Boscars, the first video released for Kanseil‘s Cant del Corlo, our lookout kinda had his radar in full motion to capture the EP once it dropped. And this single already intrigued us with its quiet and quietly professional airs.

Kanseil already got coverage for two studio records Doin Earde and Fulische on RMR. Both – of course – are fully plugged and more in a Folk Metal environment than anything else. And whilst these pieces are technically well done, they often still sound like a somewhat propped-up and electronically charged version of a … [...] Click to raid more!
