Will the number 13 turn out to be bad? After all, it’s considered THE bad omen for most of the world. Loki managed to get Baldur1 killed after arriving as the 13th guest at a dinner in Valhalla. Or – Judas served as the 13th participant at the last supper, allegedly.2 So, there’s a certain unease about that number in Western Culture, which is often associated with bad luck.

Ah, the woes of Pop Metal out there in the alloy-infested wild. Some of it is good, and most of it is bad. But they all are energetic to a point, somewhere up there with the Power Metal folks. Only that the majority of those records feels like a maniacal Barbie Cheesefest for grownups with a metal twist. And that netted some big bands like Amaranthe the might of our terrible banhammer. Theirs is just too much of a money grab with overdone tropes1 that we all heard a gazillion times before.

Red Cain like it short, intense, and wild. Already the Kindred Series, Act I & II, fascinated the hell out of the grouchy joint – ahem – chain smokers over at the review desk. To the point that some of ’em started fantasizing about meeting Juliet, which – of course – wouldn’t have ended well. A case for the RMR security squad armed with oversized tasers and tranquilizer guns.

Neverus call their style Majestic Death Metal. There, that’s quite a statement. The cantankerous specimens over at the RMR review desk weren’t so sure what to make out of that metallic assault at first, though.
