Queensrÿche endlessly fascinated us with their early work. They had some great hits later, too, but were never quite able to recreate this unique sound from Geoff Tate‘s glorious days. However, the band found a great replacement in the highly talented Todd La Torre back in 2012. And in time, the band managed to up the ante and produce material that seems to harken back in style and crispness to the olden golden days of this band’s glory.

Ever since I did the review on the excellent Operation: Mindcrime, I was itching to go ahead and continue reviewing Queensrÿche. They sport a rich heritage of some 40 years of service in rock and metal. Another bunch of seasoned veterans that truly made a mark on the metal scene. Only they were present all over this life-long timespan, unlike others that recently emerged again.

As you may know, RockmusicRaider also reviews older records, often from the ’70s and ’80s of the last century. For the simple reason that we still have a lot of great material, sometimes real pioneer work, which should never be forgotten.

The RMR crew already published the Old’n’Tasty volumes I & II earlier. And now is the time for a new installment, with a number of records that took our fancy. As always, this is in no way a ranking, but simply a selection of great albums that crossed our path.

It has been a whopping eight months or so since the latest Intermittent Digest released on this blog. In the meantime, we were busy as bees and looked at scores of new records.
