Ah, yes. French Black Metal is on the menu again. And frankly, the RMR crew has a sweet spot for these folks. Bands like Seth or Corpus Diavolis dazzled us to no end and garnered raving reviews with access to our latest Top 10 to boot. Looks like the French unconsecrated grounds are fertile soil for those devilish shenanigans.

The RMR crew covered Halphas not that long ago. Aggressive German Black Metal fare that found quite an echo over here. They offered sermons, very dark sermons to you-know-who. And they must have summoned something in the process. Because here – suddenly – Corpus Diavolis appear on our radar with yet another ritualistic piece, darkly glowing in the colors of the flesh.

I knew it. We will need to return to last year’s offerings. Because, lo and behold, Darkend‘s latest record Spiritual Resonance hereafter, somewhere fell by the wayside. And disappeared into the blackened yonder of RMR’s vast archives.

Their last record The Canticle of Shadows already garnered a pretty sturdy following on RMR, and – finally – appeared on three of our listings. First, the 2016 Top 10, the 10 Most Popular Posts and – lastly – on the Intermittent Digest IV. A feat not many bands mastered so far, ever.
