Niviane – Queen of Phantoms (2025) – Review

Niviane - Queen of Phantoms - Album Cover

Niviane. The last time we looked at the band was in 2017 with their debut The Druid King. A record that just couldn’t convince us despite multiple listens. Even attempts to invoke the Stockholm syndrome didn’t quite work out that well. Their 2020 concoction The Ruthless Divine sailed past our shores unseen. Quite unsurprisingly so. This is one of these acts changing labels for every one of their records they reluctantly choose to release and not everyone of them is connected to the good ol’ RMR office tower.

Beriedir – Liminal Spaces (2025) – Review

It is true. Progressive Metal was in short supply on the RMR zine in 2024. And this resulted in a roster far too dark and ominous for its own good. Don’t believe me? Our Top 10 can bear witness to this. That’s not to say that we didn’t enjoy any juicy hits in the prog department. But all of those were rather scarce to begin with.

To the point that the old geezers over at the Review Desk suddenly got jolted awake by some earthquake, good ol’ Poseidon caused over on the Atlantic sea floor. Welcome to Nova Atlantis. Oh, and careful with that trident. Just sayin’.

Avaland - The Legend of the Storyteller - Album Cover

Avaland. The band already made a forceful appearance on this ‘zine with their debut album Theater of Sorcery. And back in 2021, this piece came somewhat as a surprise to us. The RMR crew expected some sort of a dime-a-dozen cheese-laden Power Metal piece. Instead, the meaty delivery and the musical acumen impressed us somewhat fierce. So, two years and many more PM records down the road, the band greets us with The Legend of the Storyteller.

And, I daresay, their credo of being a metal opera is now stronger than ever. This time, the band left … [...] Click to raid more!
