The first time I came across Xandria was via their second album Ravenheart. Not sure what really got my interest going, to be honest. It probably was their unique style this band displayed at that time.

A German outfit, rocking in a somewhat delirious and somewhat poppy brand of Gothic and Melodic Metal. And – on top – these boys and girls provided a much-needed counterweight to other upcoming bands like Within Temptation back then.

Who would have thought that Xandria would evolve in this way? Judging by the almost failed, but widely hyped album Neverworld’s End, I had no great hopes for their newest record Sacrificium.

Especially because the band likes to disband their frontwomen at a very rapid-fire pace. With that kind of turnover, you just will have trouble with succession and the delivery of quality work.
