This is what happens when you select your records to review based on the smart looks of the album cover only. And it is indeed a sublime piece of art glaring back at you from Magnadur‘s latest concoction.1

Other considerations surfaced as well, of course. Such as this band hitting the metal underground out of nowhere in 2024. Transition. That’s what comes to mind once you fire up Final Coil‘s new chapter The World We Inherited. You see, their 2019 piece The World We Left Behind for Others never quite made it through boot camp here. A heavy listen, relatively rough-hewn, and often a bit frazzled around the edges.

Yet here, you get the increased power of a dronish version of Gojira on steroids, a new-found heaviness, and increased refinements that weren’t quite there before. Whoa, folks! Rendition in Dystopia right here in a video. Pain and suffering in dirty cellars, complete with waterboarding. That’s what Final Coil’s latest clip Chemtrails depicts. The band landed one hardened metal blow that I didn’t quite expect from an outfit with an out-of-the-box yet refined style of Alternative and Progressive Rock and Metal.
