RockmusicRaider Review - Amoth - Revenge - Album CoverThe thing I like about Progressive Metal bands is that they don’t give a damn about standing out from the crowd like a sore thumb. And this being different thing actually helps them getting some fame. You find loads of little known gigs that most of the time produce a pretty decent note sheet, but for some reason did not get far yet.

Very often a band is called Prog, once it is impossible to really put them into a corner – meaning being classified by the manic music classifiers – without running out of ink or corners to put them in, whichever comes first. And this is the case with Amoth and their latest 2016 album Revenge.Got hooked? Raid this some more...

2015 Top 10 Records

RockmusicRaider Review - Amalie Bruun - GuitarThe first full year for RockmusicRaider went by and a great many records were reviewed. A wild ride it was and still is, with challenges galore, some overcome and some still lurking nearby. This list covers records that got released in 2015. And who would have thought that the black section of #metal would be getting such attention during this year. Certainly not me. I am looking forward to a even more eventful 2016 and the pipeline does look pretty much filled already – but this is only the beginning.

So, let’s step right in:

Zierler – ESC (2015) – Review

RockmusicRaider Review - Zierler - ESC - Album CoverYou think you found your Progressive nirvana with Guilt Machine, Ayreon or Opeth? Well, nope. ESC delivers better – or worse depending how you look at it. Or more complex? Too complex? All of the above? Or none. Well, this is what this record projects at the first listen until you wrap your mind around it. And it will improve with age. You just need to give it some time to mature – like old wine. And as you progress, you will discover new bits and pieces.

Also, the record is giving me this weird feeling of déjà-vu! Really weird! Heard something like that some time ago – actually a long time ago.Got hooked? Raid this some more...
