As this year starts to take on steam, we truly look forward to a tear-drenched and wretched twelve months, hopefully filled with loads of Doom and Doom Death Metal of the first order. And – good news – there’s some serious action on that specific horizon.
My Dying Bride are on the prowl again with their new album The Ghost Of Orion ready to release by early March 2020. And that’s a good thing, as we felt the misery long enough for now.
MDB just rushed ahead lately and released their newest video Your Broken Shore with Aaron Stainthorpe growling from the depths of a bog of all places. One that – as the lore goes – is filled with chocolate milk. There you go, misery ain’t that bad after all.
Yet, the track quite fascinated us, even if the structure seriously errs on the simple side. But they wrap their almost 8-minute monster around that single, every recurring theme pretty artfully. Complete with extra cello and violin to underline the teary sadness. All that seconded by men in masks during a dark night, those who threaten the villain of the piece.
So, in all, ’tis a video well done, with a story to boot. And here’s Your Broken Shore in all its glory. We are already looking forward to the sad pleasures the new record will surely bring.
