Video: Loneliness Untold, Loneliness Unfold, by Green Carnation!

Green Carnation - Loneliness Untold, Loneliness Unfold - Video Cover

This is about a video that should never have appeared on our review pipe. A black screen, a chair, a guitar, and a guy singing a simple song. No action, no real cinematography to speak of, just himself, his axe, and his haunted vox. And still, here the RMR crew is twisting itself into a pretzel to justify a breach of rulez passed down by the almighty bossman.

Well, we’re talking about Green Carnation‘s 2026 record A Dark Poem, Part II: Sanguis. A record showered with the highest praise by the grouchy minions over at the RMR Review Desk. And that is pretty rare in this day and age. The record’s most striking track is a simple acoustic piece called Loneliness Untold, Loneliness Unfold. And commiserations to the rest of the bunch, but it will be difficult to beat that one, straightforward as it may be.

Much to our surprise, Stein Roger Sordal, the act’s bassist, wrote and interprets this song. It is an amazing vocal performance, too, akin to what the excellent Marko Hietala (ex Nightwish) did last year. And that’s a genuinely great compliment, by the way.

Riding along the most frugal of song structures, the interpretation positively oozes emotional pain, anguish, and a genuine sentiment of authenticity. It recounts a terrible story of painful mental issues told by someone who has been there. And the story comes in stark, unforgiving, yet brutally honest language.

Such emotional heft does not need flashy displays of moving pictures that would have disturbed the messaging otherwise. So, kudos to the production team and to a song that still follows the crew around to this day.

Enjoy!
