Red Method have made quite a splash over at the RMR Review Desk with their new EP As in Life. Now, the raw power of their music is only one facet of their artistic being. And when you’re done being slapped around by them Brits, you should also tune into their moving pictures some. It is quite the experience, we can attest.
Enter Becoming the Sickness. This is probably one of the feistiest and most ominous tracks on this shorty of an album. It might also be the one with most of the EP essence contained within. It truly comes loaded with explosives.
But let’s turn to the cinematography, shall we? Black Metal usually delivers the language spoken in this clip. Pseudo ritualistic, fake pagan, borrowed from the old, real lore. This is what you might think. But the symbolism and the execution worthy of any one of them horror movies will make all those arguments go away. A damsel in distress being haunted by a gaggle of arcane figures in some sort of stone circle seems like simple fare. Yet here, this got executed with great attention to detail, featuring pointed messaging without gruesome wiolence. As an aside, the brutal beatz only underscored the loaded moving pics rolling down on ye.
And it is this quiet but poignant menace that sold us. So, get infected by Becoming the Sickness. Hit play if you dare.
