The RMR crew just enjoyed a bout of olde thrash/trad goodness. Something so retro, it feels like a fucking time machine to the ’80s. But here, we got ourselves some young guns, comparatively speaking with some different flavor.

Enforced started back in 2016 and continued to move full steam ahead, brutalizing everything and everyone in its path. So far, RMR never had the pleasure to welcome them to our roster. Dawnwalker record progression: Ages, 2020, 58 minutes, Black/Death/Prog/Post, all still somewhat metallic. House of Sand, 2022, 43 minutes, Post Metal, Progressive Rock, loads of ambient musings, and some psych. And lastly, this year’s The Unknowing, 38 minutes, mostly alternative and psych/prog rock, a wee bit of hidden ambients, and a few Post Metal moments. Interesting, isn’t it?

Alright. We gotta further the cause of Power Metal some more. Veonity just aired a few days ago. And that makes – together with Hammerfall – all but two PM records on RMR for 2024. So, why not kick it up a notch or two and have a go at another one? After all, Orden Ogan and their new piece The Order of Fear waited patiently on the sidelines for a few months now.

Power Metal hasn’t been much in play for the RMR zine this year. The malevolent undercurrents of the metal underbelly gained a lot more heft and that went to the detriment of the Metal o’ The Light. The Swedes from Hammerfall rose to questionable fame this year, being the only Power Metal outfit to date in 2024 on RMR. And that lands us with Veonity and their new piece The Final Element.
