Let the epic battle begin, first shots have been fired.

2020 finds us with three Symphonic Metal masters lined up like ducks in a row. First will be Delain with Apocalypse & Chill. Then, Diabulus in Musica threatened to come online a bit later. And – last, but not least – Nightwish will be playing the rearguard in April.

How neat of them all to get into creative gear at that very same moment. And the RMR deck crew really can’t wait to find out who on earth will win this contest.

Apocalypse & ChillDelain‘s 2020 offering – will soon hit the stores this February of 2020. It looks like we have a lot to say about this band. So, to avoid overloading the review in preparation, here’s a short abstract of our discoveries over time.

Kind of closely following their late 2006 album Lucidity in style, April RainDelain‘s 2009 Symphonic and Gothic Metal concoction, is nevertheless a step up in speed and overall juice. 

Nightwish remains a clear influence on this new record, too. The style of which is clearly brought to the forefront by Marco Hietala‘s excellent contribution to this album.

As in the track Control The Storm that really takes off, with some typical raw power Marco usually brings to the party. The consequence – however – is that at times the production sounds a bit too much like Nightwish itself. [...] Click to raid more!
