Aversed – Erasure of Color (2025) – Review

Aversed - Erasure of Color - Album Cover

Aversed did it. Who would have thought that? The airtime is down to a benign 40 minutes from 57 minutes on Impermanent. Also, methinks that there’s much less Arch Enemy baked into Erasure of Color compared to what was before. And these are good pointers toward a successful sophomore piece of an up-and-coming Extreme Metal band. Or is it really? Harsh musings and melodic exploits.

Right from the start, the change in vocal style is truly remarkable. It looks like Haydee Irizarry and her Gluz-leaning1 antics left the building in 2021, and one Sarah Hartman moved into her … [...] Click to raid more!

This Gift is a Curse – Heir (2025) – Review

Oh yeah, baby. Time to stop wobbling about strange soundscapes and back to burning off some mental fat. And that’s best done with unapologetic furious metal, stuff the usual classical music connoisseur would not touch with a ten-foot flagpole. Noisome metallic items that the RMR crew cannot really resist.

So, descend into This Gift is a Curse‘s unhealthy and wickedly heathen realm. An unwelcome apparition of a beast so vile it might make you decamp in a hellbent hurry. Meet the Heir, bow your head in submission, and be afraid. Very afraid.

Ecr.Linf – Belluaires (2024) – Review

Ecr.Linf - Belluaires - Album Cover

2024 brought us our share of French Black Metal already. Seth and Corpus Diavolis are just two of them. Powerful occult Black Metal pieces that will beat the fear of Lucifer into you. Some of it is presented in French, no less. An attribute that the RMR crew has trouble resisting. Extreme Metal works best in that specific language. Latin-based, Luciferian, just good. Even if Satan – apparently – resides somewhere in London.

But we got ourselves other flavors, too. A band bizarrely named Ecr.Linf1 offers an equally bizarre Black and Post Black Metal fest. Belluaires struggles against – … [...] Click to raid more!

Veilburner – The Duality of Decapitation and Wisdom (2024) – Review

Veilburner - The Duality of Decapitation and Wisdom - Album Cover

The Duality of Decapitation and Wisdom. That’s one helluva title, isn’t it? This – thing should be banned solely for the dumbfoolery displayed both in the moniker and the album cover. In fact, the bossman himself wrote a memo to staff to stop concentrating on this particular piece of loud-mouthed muck full of pseudo-occultism and chickens left whole. But for some reason, rulez were disobeyed and red lines crossed to get over the finishing line with this here record. Veilburner fomenting dissent and revolution over at RMR HQ? Looks like it. But this – thing got one seething hot … [...] Click to raid more!
