Taake – En Skog av Nidstang (2026) – Review

Taake - En Skog av Nidstang - Album Cover

Taake is a decade-old, well-established band of the Extreme Metal arts. Yet another renowned act that bypassed our review pipe time and again, and will thus unwillingly qualify for appearing on our n00b list. But this time it wasn’t because somehow the terrible mainstream got the better of us. It was – a wretched reputation preceding them. Same as other Black Metal bands from Bergen in Norway,1 the outfit’s notoriety was starkly apparent, even before the RMR crew had a chance to look at it.

You know, the usual culprits. Right-wing afflictions, psychopathic behaviour, violence of all couleur, purported … [...] Click to raid more!

Veilburner – Longing for Triumph, Reeking of Tragedy (2025) – Review

Veilburner - Longing For Triumph, Reeking Of Tragedy - Album Cover

By the mighty Gawds of Metal. The 2025 Veilburner piece unwieldily called Longing for Triumph, Reeking of Tragedy has been blinking its lifeforce away in the depths of our review pipe. And nobody picked it up yet. And that ain’t a stellar idea with the release of their 2026 piece All Glimmer is Gloam coming up fast.

The album’s untimely arrival, with a release date in November 2025, didn’t really help. With the listing season breathing down our necks and two iterations of Magnadur‘s1 unhinged bullshit under our belt, our patience was really wearing thin. And this new … [...] Click to raid more!

Viande - Monument Aux Morts - Album Cover

In trying times like these, what better idea than to sit your ass down with some truly vile metal? It will (hopefully) burn the mental fat off your grey matter real fast and help get rid of this aggression fest aimlessly careening about your skull.

And today I have a special suggestion that will brutally expel vegetarians and vegans, too. Not that they cannot partake in this endeavor, far from it. But they’re not gonna like the smells and texture of this particular meal.

Viande1, the band, brings you the putrid fare you need. Terrible fetid musings in … [...] Click to raid more!

Non Serviam – La Lune Dont Mon Âme Est Pleine (2026) – Review

Non Serviam - La Lune Dont Mon Âme Est Pleine - Album Cover

Non Serviam. An anarchistically driven chaos troupe masquerading as a metal band. Their last record, Le Coeur Bat,1 was so atrociously underwater that it didn’t even make it to publication over here. And perhaps we should have let it air on the RMR zine. This would mean that two zero-rated records would dwell in our statistics today. Not the greatest idea, by the way. It is not desirable to collect those if you run a webzine like ours. But I digress.

Back to Non Serviam, the French band. It always amuses me when riotous and probably … [...] Click to raid more!
