Ah, some devil’s music is, yet again, on the menu. You know, traditional Heavy Metal fare that the old folks around the late ’70s honestly thought rolled in straight through the gates of hell. There wasn’t much metal around these days, so this must have sounded like Gehenna reincarnated for some. Most of it was Hard Rock with some early metal injected for good measure. Case in point, Tygers of Pan Tang just graced our review pipe. And they started their songsmithing in ’78, together with Saxon and a few more. Heavy Metal. Pseudo-satanic musings galore, high on soaring vocals. A change from rock ‘n’ roll, forged in the flames of arcane evil that will melt said rock, forge it into alloy, and reach new heights of brutality. 2025 hasn’t even started yet in earnest and we already find ourselves back in Heavy Metal country. A genre long thought dead but still alight with numerous bands plying these long-discovered routes. Interestingly, the aging biggies still are at the top of their game and have been for eons. To the point that young guns joining the fray have a helluva time to get themselves heard.
