Porta Nigra - Weltende - Album Cover

It’s true that Porta Nigra‘s 2020 epos Schöpfungswut didn’t quite sync as well as it should with us. The record was one of those love/hate affairs. The godly theme was snazzy enough but – sometimes – the songwriting got stuck in a loop which didn’t quite help matters over at the RMR review desk.

But then, we cannot really deny a band named after a famous Roman city gate in Trier and that comes with a swagger bigger than the Milky Way. They’re also prone to bigger-than-thou themes that may or may not hinder quality and progress. And this … [...] Click to raid more!

Orphalis - As The Ashes Settle - Album Cover

What about – some Brutal Death Metal lost in translation with Technical Death Metal? You know, extreme ferocity that won’t change its attack vector until you either fled or were trampled by the horde. It depends, I guess. On the day and the level of rage that the Dark Lord delivers. And in time, the band managed to up the ante and produce material that seems to harken back in style and crispness to the olden golden days of this band’s glory.

Case in point, Tormentum – their newest video off their 2022 album Digital Noise Alliance – just dropped, and we … [...] Click to raid more!

Panzerchrist - Last of a King - Album Cover

After all that gallivanting about the shiny realm of the Metal o’ the Light, it is time to descend to the 10th circle of hell yet again. Doesn’t exist, you say? Well, wait until you taste the fare the new Panzerchrist record will slam onto your turntable.

And believe you me, this band will try to prove their point with a relentless attack of vile metal. Looks like all those staff changes paid off and the 10-year wait for new material wasn’t such a bad idea after all. Down to the torture chamber with you. Gory fun and games with … [...] Click to raid more!
