Carach Angren invoke The Cult of Kariba!

Carach Angren -The Cult of Kariba - Album Cover

Carach Angren are, to this reviewer, similar to the folks over at Anaal Nathrakh. Both boast fundamentally different styles, of course. But they will burn any mental fat off your inner workings quickly, once you find yourself immersed in their sometimes (very) sick and hopefully, fantasy world. Cathartic tranquilization through pure terror, that kind of thing. Loud, brutal, and plain relaxing.

So, after a long wait, CA finally decided to meet their fanbase again. And that’s a good thing. The outlooks on top of our office tower1 already started to initiate search and rescue plans. Unnecessarily so, because … [...] Click to raid more!

Sabaton – Legends (2025) – Review

Sabaton - Legends - Album Cover

Hehe. The n00b machine has regurgitated a new candidate. Yet another established band that somehow never appeared on this zine. Sabaton is its name, and war-like tall tales are its game. They’ve been around for a long while and have been active at the outer fringes of the RMR aural perception. Same as their Viking brethren of Amon Amarth, these guys till the blood-soaked fields of conflict and merciless conquest. Only that Sabaton here are navigating modern waters more often than not. They seem to inspire a ton of Extreme Metal bands that bemoan their majestic landscapes and mystical origins. And I reckon that the album art again covers the essence of where this is going pretty well already. The pagan lore still seems to be firmly entrenched in the local populace over there. And that, even if the Holy Catholic Church tried to align the region to the cranky whims of the nailed god for too many centuries. Just look at … [...] Click to raid more!

Amorphis – Borderland (2025) – Review

Amorphis - Borderland - Album Cover

Halo still ranked pretty well over at the RMR Review Desk, despite pretty severe reservations from some crewmembers over here. In a way, Amorphis‘ (in)famous trilogy seemed to suffer from overreach at the end. A form of fatigue brought about by too much mandated playtime and not enough good ideas to fill the void with real mana.

And who can blame them, really? The sturdy roughy Under The Red Cloud and the feisty piece Queen of Time must have sucked the oxygen out of the songsmithing atelier. So, I reckon, the last one of the trio had trouble really … [...] Click to raid more!
