Let me be straightforward with you. Every record the RMR crew touched so far with sitar-infested shamanesque vibes was a failure. Either it wasn’t up to par or the lofty goals of the band were a tad too high-strung for their own good. Meaning, most of the culprits didn’t even make it over the threshold over here, but some like Saturnian Mist actually did.

Already Eternal Storm‘s debut album Come The Tide generated some giant waves over here. A moon-driven show of force that waltzed straight onto the lofty heights of the RMR 2019 Top 10. A relatively rare occurrence, but not completely unheard of.

And that’s all great but – at the same time – kind of scary for a first-ever record of a band. Because this posed an immediate challenge to Eternal Storm. Doom ‘n’ gloom indeed formed an important part of last year’s metal DNA. Succulent, shiny morsels like Isole and Shores of Null stand proud in that dreary light they so lustfully project. But contrite RMR truly missed some excellent fare that somehow wasted away in our swampy review pipe until it washed ashore just a few days ago.
