Well, what kind of strange fish have we caught ourselves today? A record the old geezers over at the review desk downloaded because – the artwork intrigued them. And we were greeted with the story of Jasmine. Or something. An unknown outfit called Kronowski with a start date of 2020, boasting typical SoCal feel-good rock fare, complete with an overly sweetish sugary coating and a chipmunk voice spewing dark-ish lyrics at ye. And that, even if the artist hails from Georgia which is – incidentally – on the other side of the US.

Transition. That’s what comes to mind once you fire up Final Coil‘s new chapter The World We Inherited. You see, their 2019 piece The World We Left Behind for Others never quite made it through boot camp here. A heavy listen, relatively rough-hewn, and often a bit frazzled around the edges.

Yet here, you get the increased power of a dronish version of Gojira on steroids, a new-found heaviness, and increased refinements that weren’t quite there before. When Seethe bubbled up the review pipe, we were fascinated. This was some refreshing new piece of rock that had energy to spare. A still somewhat local band from Portugal finally raised its mighty voice and – blamed Zeus for it. And thinking about it, he pretty much got to carry the hat for everything if I remember that correctly.
