Final Coil - The World We Inherited - Album Cover

Transition. That’s what comes to mind once you fire up Final Coil‘s new chapter The World We Inherited. You see, their 2019 piece The World We Left Behind for Others never quite made it through boot camp here. A heavy listen, relatively rough-hewn, and often a bit frazzled around the edges.

Yet here, you get the increased power of a dronish version of Gojira on steroids, a new-found heaviness, and increased refinements that weren’t quite there before. And as the latter navigate the treacherous waters of environmental issues, the band around Phil Stiles raise the specter of a … [...] Click to raid more!

Blame Zeus - Laudanum - Album Cover

When Seethe bubbled up the review pipe, we were fascinated. This was some refreshing new piece of rock that had energy to spare. A still somewhat local band from Portugal finally raised its mighty voice and – blamed Zeus for it. And thinking about it, he pretty much got to carry the hat for everything if I remember that correctly.

Thus, we were mighty surprised to find some sort of clone without being one. Jordsjø‘s Salighet immediately caught our … [...] Click to raid more!

Hex A.D. - Delightful Sharp Edges - Album Cover

Hex A.D.‘s records are no easy fare. And that makes them a bitch to review. But somehow, both Astro Tongue in the Electric Garden1 and Funeral Tango for Gods and Men ended up with highest praise over at the RMR office tower. I guess, some of the old geezers of the review crew have a soft spot for overly complex gritty retro rock with a penchant for Nikola Tesla’s musings. But it’s of course not that simple.

And speaking about complex. This time Hex A.D. got themselves a real thorny theme. Delightful Sharp Edges talks about genocide, … [...] Click to raid more!
