Good, down-home Death Metal can be a cathartic experience. Specifically, the technical variant is one of those that will burn that mental fat right off your pitch-black soul. If you got one left, that is, of course. The RMR crew ain’t too sure anymore at times. We might have inadvertently sold something to a daemon or five on our forays into the occult, the blackest of Black Metal.

But I digress, back to the deathly ones. It has indeed been some time since real Death Metal brutality was on the menu over at the office tower. And this time, Hideous [...] Click to raid more!

Now, we’re a bit confused. Scarlet Records are usually known for their penchant for high-end Power Metal. But blatant Extreme Metal? That’s kinda unusual, but why the hell not? Especially when the material presented could well rival stuff peddled by bigger and more established outfits.

Already the band name Drown in Sulphur is darkly ominous, to say the least. That’s not a fate we wish to impose on our worst enemies. Right? But for some reason, they didn’t quite make it onto our swampy review pipe, despite their notoriety and undeniable success. The reasons range from no need for mainstream bands to too dumb to tango.

So, yet again, we’ll be exploring how this here metal survivor would fare with a contemporary look at today’s offering without any regard to their past actions. In other words, the very … [...] Click to raid more!

Fossilization - Leprous Daylight - Album Cover

Welcome to the world of metal extremes where everything has stalled in frozen beauty. Stony silence in fossilized cold-hearted embrace. Pictures taken from times immemorial back when the first metal dinosaurs roared about the landscape. Witnesses of a dreary world before Metal o’ The Light took over with squeaky clean alloy. A place where only sickly light drips into its eternal darkness and ominous phlegm-filled noises escape.

Behold the Leprous Daylight that the deathly ones of Fossilization freely dispense. Back to the roots!

Alright, this is a debut record, believe it or not. One that reaches us straight from the … [...] Click to raid more!
