Isolert – Wounds of Desolation (2024) – Review

Isolert - Wounds of Desolation - Album Cover

The RMR crew first encountered Isolert‘s firebrand style of Black Metal in 2016. No Hope, No Light…Only Death their debut album called itself, and – while still somewhat unwieldy – it stuck with us. Some real Black Metal, from Greece to boot. A strange place for Extreme Metal, by the way. At first, the country appears peaceful, but then you find unsavory little nuggets. Vile metal bands, some of which appeared on this zine. Rotting Christ for instance, Kvadrat,1 or Septic Flesh come to mind to name just a few.

For some reason, the band’s 2020 piece

Vredehammer - God Slayer - Album Cover

Well, look what slithered into daylight from under an ancient rock. RMR searched far and wide for an Extreme Metal record so vile, barbarous, and savage, it had the potential to blow bands like Anaal Nathrakh from the Throne ov Metal AbominationsTM. Nyrak - Devourer of All - Album Cover

Melancholy, oh terrible melancholy. A rich tapestry of downtrodden deathly vibes slowly wafts our way straight down from Belgium. From haunted graveyards on cursed hills hidden in the mists of time. Holy moly, the things just looking at the album art might conjure up from nothingness and decay.

So indeed, we did it again. The RMR Review Desk picked up Nyrak‘s sophomore effort Devourer of All solely by the terrible powers of the ominous graveyard on the album cover. But – did it pay off? Looks can be deceiving. There may be more than meets the ear.

Corpus Diavolis - Elixiria Ekstasis - Album Cover

The RMR crew covered Halphas not that long ago. Aggressive German Black Metal fare that found quite an echo over here. They offered sermons, very dark sermons to you-know-who. And they must have summoned something in the process. Because here – suddenly – Corpus Diavolis appear on our radar with yet another ritualistic piece, darkly glowing in the colors of the flesh.

An offering that’s atrociously salacious and prone for demonetization by the social media whackos. But who are we kidding? The putrid juices are spewing forth, fueled by a vile elixir. Elixiria Ekstasis, they called it. Some sort … [...] Click to raid more!
