Well, by the Lightbringer’s roasted balls, that’s one long wait. Salacious Gods saw the dreary light of hell back in – 1994. Their last full-length record released in 2005. That’s a generation of waiting for – some new Black Metal. And that let the RMR review desk almost recommend this band for this year’s lamestream award series. Almost.

Once Covid starts moving on, 2022 should turn out to be great. Well, that’s what the ever-optimistic crew over here honestly thought. But nope, we were so wrong! To the contrary and as the saying goes, if it can get worse, it will. And it did on a few fronts. Geopolitical issues galore, new wars, shaky economies all over the globe, a felt gazillion of tyrants emerging, it didn’t look that good over the last 12 months. Already the mystical castle-like shape on the cover art talked to us. Shrouded in terrible mists and surrounded by forests, it positively screams Black Metal. A true visual metaphor for all those extreme things metal has on offer for us. But will the record head down the path of synth-laden tracks plagued by the terrible drum machine? Or will it wander about the well-trodden routes of traditional atrocities? I guess we’re about to find out.
