Whenever I fired up Two Paths, Ensiferum‘s 2017 offering, my mind literally switched off after the third track. All about this album had this moldy taste of a run-of-the-mill, cheesily bombastic and epically challenged junk piece. Filled with stuff we already heard before, and which grew on ye after a few beers too many. Only to find out that this thing pretty much felt like the hangover you just experienced the next morning.

So, in a sense, Ensiferum became that universal bad example whenever the RMR deck crew needed one. Something filled with so much fondue, a Philly … [...] Click to raid more!

The slight similarities of the former’s offering with the Australian band Arbrynth‘s A Place of Buried Light made me chuckle a bit, though. Nothing to compare like for like in there, but both bands’ artistic fabric seems to be woven with a similar thread. Must truly be the trees and the Wilde Beasts.

This band indeed takes its sweet … [...] Click to raid more!

It is high time to clean up the loose ends that still flap about our review pipe from last year. On top of that, we – for sure – don’t want to upset the Great Old Ones by forgetting to unchain that review for Necronomicon‘s latest full-length record UNUS (the number one). This newest concoction of those Canadian metal extremists of truly long standing that came to our turntables in late 2019.

The record for sure seamlessly latches on to its former incarnation Advent of the Human God. And this can be good, or it can be bad, … [...] Click to raid more!
