The Tome V Edition was already substantial, but 2017 has been on the fast-track ever since with an enormous amount of material released to date. This includes many big bands that churned out their newest records right around fall of this year with a lot more still to come. RMR just covered the New Age Black Metal outfit Parodos. A band that does not fit the Norwegian definition of this genre at all. Yet still gets you an interesting mix of styles that includes at least some spiked fisting. And they managed to keep enough of our deck crew’s interest to get them a review.

Párodos – Catharsis (2017) – Review

The RMR offices just reviewed the icy Black Metal album Kwintessens of Dodecahedron dealing with some sort of a rebirth cycle. Understandably, birth, death, rebirth are – for some at least – pretty important. Even if this specific dogma is not really supported by the Holy See. So it is doubly spicy to see another such record appearing from Salerno in Italy of all places. A country more known for its catholic values, rather than its progressive undercurrents.
