RMR’s 2025 Top 10 Records!

RMR's Top 10 2025 - Skeleton on a rock with electric guitar with a clock in the background.

In 2024, RMR’s Top 10 was dark, ominous, and, at times, frankly distressing. Full of Satanik Panik, deep excursions into the terrible underground of Death and Black Metal, or – again – just frank, straightforward malevolence. There weren’t many rays of light, and one wondered what daemon visited the RMR Office Tower exactly to inflict such a brutal punishment on the esteemed audience. Even if the RMR crew just discovered some odd tidbits of ’24 that could have lightened the load. Could. But didn’t.

And perhaps this was a harbinger of doom for the year to come. With the worst … [...] Click to raid more!

Tribunal – In Penitence and Ruin (2025) – Review

Tribunal - Of Penitence and Ruin - Album Cover

The last time, the guardian of the review pipe screwed up and the RMR crew finally covered Tribunal‘s 2023 debut with some delay the following year. A ‘faux pas’ that won’t bear repeating yet again. The RMR crew found the Quality ov Doom to be pretty outstanding and compelling for a simple starter package. Material that would have landed on the top 10 with a fair degree of certainty.

So, luckily, the band’s somewhat unwieldily named new piece In Penitence and Ruin reaches our dark shores somewhat early in 2025. Time enough to let its desperate deliberations sink in … [...] Click to raid more!

Blasts from the Past 2024: Prog meets Metal Wiolence!

Nostalgic Rock Band with Juke Box - Blasts from the Past 2024

What can I say, we can’t help it. Our revolutionary genes kicked in yet again in 2024. Rulez have been broken and oldish content was covered with abandon. Well, the sinning wasn’t quite that severe. But the selection of Blasts from the Past is kinda juicy nonetheless, ranging from Prog geekery to brvtish metallic wiolence. The kind of thing that will keep you entertained and your hackles up at the same time.

Welcome to a new selection of crazy alloys and strange archaeological finds!

Tribunal - The Weight of Remembrance - Album Cover

Doom ‘n’ gloom indeed formed an important part of last year’s metal DNA. Succulent, shiny morsels like Isole and Shores of Null stand proud in that dreary light they so lustfully project. But contrite RMR truly missed some excellent fare that somehow wasted away in our swampy review pipe until it washed ashore just a few days ago.

And that is Tribunal‘s The Weight of Remembrance. The piece blows every doom album we covered last year out of the water. An astute record that would have made it onto our Top 10. Would. Because now it’s too … [...] Click to raid more!
