Amorphis – Borderland (2025) – Review

Amorphis - Borderland - Album Cover

Halo still ranked pretty well over at the RMR Review Desk, despite pretty severe reservations from some crewmembers over here. In a way, Amorphis‘ (in)famous trilogy seemed to suffer from overreach at the end. A form of fatigue brought about by too much mandated playtime and not enough good ideas to fill the void with real mana.

De Profundis - The Gospel of Rot - Album Cover

De Profundis’ 2022 piece The Corruption of Virtue first took us by surprise and then by storm. An astute piece of Death Metal of all couleur that fascinated us with its merciless musical prowess. But since then, nada. Not a peep from Londontown. So, we filed them away for being one of those RMR one-time events in metal.

The track itself is a raspy malevolent rant taken from the band’s upcoming EP The [...] Click to raid more!

Terra Atlantica - Oceans - Album Cover

The album cover talked to us first. Poseidon, are you calling again? Late in 2024, we had you on a banger of a record. Full trident power on stark display. So, here the Olympian Gawd ov The Sea (and other mischief) reemerges from the North Sea. Or something.

Terra Atlantica are on the prowl again. To our chagrin, steampunk seems to be out the door, and Oceans are their theme with a penchant for pirate lore. A fact we kinda guessed when looking at the cover.

But with moving things into the Pirate Metal realm comes big responsibility. Legion … [...] Click to raid more!
