Holy moly, I never knew we were going to review a W.A.S.P. record. The RMR crew steered clear of that overly glamorous genre for some time. After all, the whole idea pretty much turned into roadkill on the Sunset Strip some time ago. With a few remarkable exceptions, I give them that. But – wait, what? This ain’t W.A.S.P.? Damn.

And sure enough, our swampy review pipe just regurgitated an Australian band called Sabïre. An outfit that – apparently – had its coming out event on this planet back in 2010 and was active ever since with a few … [...] Click to raid more!

Totengott - Beyond The Veil - Album Cover

2024 may very well turn into a new year where abject metal malevolence hits hard all over again. Seems to be a sign of the time with all that upheaval going on in the world around us.

So, here’s to Totengott from – Spain (not Germany). Starting out as a Celtic Frost cover band, they found their very own sound in some weird thrashy, doom-laden Black Metal thing. Ah yes, Dune, a sci-fi classic authored by Frank Herbert back in the ’60s. Full of worms, sand, desert heroes high on drugs, and Ninja-style fights. But it’s also a novel that never quite clicked with yours truly. Despite all that, I nonetheless went to see the latest movie and was – utterly unimpressed.

The movie’s a big and technically astute production but it also seriously lacks substance, decisive action, and suspense. Some critics put this down to a severe case of ‘following the book’. And there is some truth in that. But a movie needs to be exciting, not … [...] Click to raid more!

Wormed – Omegon (2024) – Review

Wormed - Omegon - Album Cover

Alright, Wormed should form part of our n00b crowd at the RMR office tower. A list of established metal acts that – to this day – somehow didn’t make it on our roster yet. The band emerged from the vile depths of space in 1998 and produced all of – four full-length albums over all these years. But even with a scarce density like that, this band has exerted considerable influence on Brutal and Technical Death Metal over time.

RMR is no good with ‘established’ bands of the alleged metal mainstream. So, it’s no surprise that this band somehow sailed … [...] Click to raid more!
