Here’s to one small blurb I wanted to cover for a while. Back in 2021, Los Disidentes del Sucio Motel got some mileage out of RMR for their Polaris record. Not the easiest of fares and somewhat difficult to get into. But it was worth it and sufficiently out of the box to keep our interest levels up and sharp.

The fiery pit has opened yet again. And by the sheer force of the album cover, you probably already guessed where this is heading. ‘Xactly! Deep down into the rotten flesh of Black Metal Central, brought to you by remnants of the original Black Metal crew of times long gone.

Lord Belial are a finicky band. Emerging in Sweden in the Unholy Year of the Dark Lord 1992, they had an on-and-off relationship with their fanbase. Alright, these folks caught the seasoned old wizards of RMR’s Best off guard. For about two seconds, the sinners of the review desk thought this was about the Death Metal doomsters of Noumena, the band without the I. Nice try, guys.

But no, here we deal with a much more modern quirk of the metal multiverse. The band is called Noumenia, and they’re looking for Echoes. Funny how that works out. The cheap-looking album covers of Inhuman Condition got us to pick up Rat God in the first place. There’s some twisted humor in there. These covers look like the front pages of them sleazy Pulp Fiction novels we used to buy many a decade ago. And somehow, the perpetrator’s mug kinda looks familiar. Or is it just me? Hidden messages galore or brain fog brought about by too many conspiracy theories. Whichever comes first. And that the new band sports refugees from the mighty Massacre was just icing on this metal cake.
