I just watched Omnium Gatherum’s latest video and was – no surprise there – struck all over again with the closeness to the sleepless ones. And indeed, Insomnium and their somewhat stereotypical brand of melodeath often stands for the law by which all shalt be measured.

Good that we have new folks on the block who will hopefully challenge that (alleged) supremacy. Anima Hereticae just sent a serious warning that things may be about to change. And now we just met up with As the Sun Falls. And this band sports a pretty sturdy brand of Melodic Death Metal. … [...] Click to raid more!

Well, by the Lightbringer’s roasted balls, that’s one long wait. Salacious Gods saw the dreary light of hell back in – 1994. Their last full-length record released in 2005. That’s a generation of waiting for – some new Black Metal. And that let the RMR review desk almost recommend this band for this year’s lamestream award series. Almost.

When I first read the title of Rorcal‘s newest pile of filth, I had to laugh. Silence – the contrary to what one expects from any of this band’s vanta black offerings. In fact, peace and quiet is what you will yearn for once the record is done with you. And it comes with a whopping 42 minutes of insane heaviness, so take heed.

Welcome to one of the vilest shards of some sort of Blackened Noize from Hell that 2023 threw at us to date. And there’s nothing pretty to see here. Ready? Jump right in if you … [...] Click to raid more!

Cannibal Corpse - Chaos Horrific - Album Cover

Ah, RMR’s on the lamestream trip again. 2023 contains an impressive number of old ‘n’ rusty metal bands that are total n00bs on this here webzine. A selection of misfits outfits filled with old geezers forming part of – what is often called today – metal royalty. Bands that proudly stood at the source of it all, when all those genres started to mushroom into existence. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing, by the way. The RMR will thus yet again set out into treacherous waters and bless another old band with a review of the present without regard … [...] Click to raid more!
