Ah, the Cimbrian community in the Italian Veneto seems to be very active in metal. The RMR crew covered Kanseil’s piece Doin Erde earlier in 2015. Folk Metal with a quirk and a solid historical background.

Now, the Italian Folk Metal band VallorcH released their sophomore full-length album Until Our Tale Is Told back towards the end of that same year. And similar to the aforementioned medievally-tainted dudes, this act takes a pretty folksy, yet truly metallic approach to local themes. Mainly based on the cultural remnants of the highlands North of Venice.

Newsflash: Besra are looking for Equilibrium!

Suicide Records, huh? Once I started to get the feel of Besra‘s newest blurb Equilibrium, the choice of the label began to make perfect sense. This is dangerous melancholy writ large on a canvas of pvre desperation. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves.

The RMR crew somehow missed the band’s 2023 piece Transitions. But as fall sets in with the usual weirdo weather patterns, decaying leaves, and overall melancholy, this new EP quickly attached itself to the folks over at the Review Desk. ‘Ô solitude! Ô Misery!’ That kind of thing, right?

The RMR crew just enjoyed a bout of olde thrash/trad goodness. Something so retro, it feels like a fucking time machine to the ’80s. But here, we got ourselves some young guns, comparatively speaking with some different flavor.

Enforced started back in 2016 and continued to move full steam ahead, brutalizing everything and everyone in its path. So far, RMR never had the pleasure to welcome them to our roster. And the experience for this short blurb has been like witnessing a bunch of MOABs (Mother of All Bombs) in uncontrollable detonations. Chaska embark on the Rites of June!

The share of South American bands on the RMR beat has been relatively limited over time. And Chaska is only the 2nd outfit from Peru to appear on the zine. Their newest EP Rites of June immediately usurped our attention and wouldn’t let go, though. And that’s always a good sign.
