Hell’s Bells!

Now I am really feeling stoned. I just successfully navigated through a series of listens of the US stoner/doom band Void King and their debut and self-released album There is Nothing. Very nihilistic, ain’t it?

You will find an intense soundscape with a gazillion of downturned, excellent riffs assaulting you from every corner.

The record surprises with a grungy, doomy, metal-infused Stoner Rock from back in time. All of this is fittingly supplemented by Jason Kindred‘s gritty vocals. At times their tune sounds like some unclean, drunken version of the biggies in the Doom world, like … [...] Click to raid more!

The wicked prophet is loose with his donkey again, facing the sword-wielding angel! Or something of that nature. And in Switzerland to boot.

If an EP serves – as the lore goes – to show the skills of a band in their early days, then the Swiss band Xaon hit dead center with their upcoming, self-released album Face of Balaam. Expecting some watery metal concoction, I was stopped dead in my tracks by this tsunami rolling over me. And by Loki, these guys serve an intense and aggressive brand of their favorite metal.

Today is the day for a juicy slab of blackened, hypnotic metal madness, I declare. Don’t agree?

Then you must join the wusses in Corpse Ripper’s realm and be condemned to listen to their punishment eternally. All others need to check out Nihilistinen Barbaarisuus and their short blurb Madness Incarnate published earlier in 2016. 

Based in the US, but rooted in the cold North of Finland, Nihilistinen Barbaarisuus formed in 2012. Running up to the current record, the band produced a number of EPs, demos and two full length albums.
