RockmusicRaider Review - Xaon - The Drift - Album CoverThe RockmusicRaider officescape likes drama. Especially a loud drama with a lot of boom and bang. And we have remarkable drama queens around the Gothic and Symphonic Metal universe, blackened and death-oriented ones included. Just think about Dimmu Borgir or Fleshgod Apocalypse to name just two of them.

Now, here we can add another one: The Swiss outfit Xaon rumbles onto the scene like Mad Max on a bad day. They already gave us a first broadside of what they can do in 2016 with their EP Face of Balaam. And they are back with a hammer blow of a record disguised beneath a simple and almost nihilistic art cover in blue and gray shades.Got hooked? Raid this some more...

RockmusicRaider Review - Tethra - Like Crows for the Earth - Album CoverAh, yes! The early signs point towards a more abundant reappearance of Progressive and Doom Metal in 2017. Even if 2016 in itself was not bad already. And – looking at the RockmusicRaider pipeline – there is already an inkling of many such delights. We are not necessarily talking about the known bands only, but also a plethora of relatively unknown gigs. That is good news, as these genres are in need for bands with new ideas coming on board.

The Italian band Tethra with their sophomore full length offering Like Crows For The Earth comes along with an interesting style package. The band saw the dreary and tear-drenched mists of this mortal coil for the first time in 2008.Got hooked? Raid this some more...

RockmusicRaider Newsflash - Banned From Hell - Fall of Humanity - Album CoverYou know, sometimes a tune just sticks like mud on a wall. And this just so happened with the Italian band Banned From Hell and their second album Fall of Humanity, signed to Sliptrick Records. The description says Horror Metal and this, too, got my attention. And indeed, there is this hint of master Dracula sitting in the great hall playing on his organ from hell. Whilst waiting for his next victim to arrive.

But what have we got ourselves?

Complex, meaty riffs and solos mixing with a Scandinavian flavored slab of Melodic Death Metal. Throw in some deathcore elements and mix with Progressive Metal from the dark side of the moon.Got hooked? Raid this some more...

RockmusicRaider Review - Revenience - Daedalum - Album CoverWheel of the Devil, huh?  Welcome to Zoetropia. Meaning the Daedalum, featuring a round device with slits giving the impression of moving images when actioned. Officially invented in the 1800’s and patented by a number of crafty bastards, all claiming glory for themselves. When others (way) before them already attempted this feat. But it is a nice touch to name Revenenience‘s début album thus, ’cause the devil is always lurking somewhere in the background in this type of #metal.

Bologna-based Revenience formed back in 2014. This whilst already working on their first album Daedalum, drawing on material from their already rich musical careers.

And Daedalum takes its influences!

Dominance XX The Rising Vengeance Album CoverThe Italian Death metallers Dominance are a band with a history of long breaks in between records. Very long breaks. Forming way back in the ’90s, they feature a number of interesting releases, starting in 1999 with Anthems of Ancient Splendor, displaying a somewhat laid back and unique blackened Melodic Death Metal style, which earned them some critical acclaim. Then adding some more in 2009 with Echoes of Human Decay, this time with a sharper version of the #metal style formerly displayed.

Now in the year of the Lord 2016, the band unleashed their third album XX: The Rising Vengeance onto the unsuspecting masses in Europe, getting ready to do so in the US.Got hooked? Raid this some more...
