Neo-Pagan and Dark Folk fascinate me, in a geeky kind of way. It’s an archaic multiverse of sorts that seeks to recreate long bygone times that were – supposedly – aligned to Gaia’s consciousness. You know, those times when we were all dancing around the fires and painting weird symbols on rocks.

You got the amplifiers of Heilung for instance, the folks that weirdly howl around the stage claiming they got a grip on all that history thing. But once we found Laura Fella (Faun) and Fiona Frewert (also Faun) on the list of that very same roster, the RMR deck crew had to give this new video a try.

Together with Fieke van den Hurk, Rafael [...] Click to raid more!

Experimental Archaeology is an actual scientific branch that strives to reenact technologies, ways of life, and techniques of long-gone times. Very much by trial and error and fueled by whatever fragments the remnants of the past cough up. It is an exciting way to conduct practically oriented archaeology and to understand things by doing, as opposed to digging endlessly around dusty sites, and live to theorize about your findings later.

The same is true with music from long-vanished times. Old melodies abound that nobody really knows where they may originate from. Fragments of texts, spells, and whatnot galore that positively … [...] Click to raid more!
