SAVN – SAVN (2014) – Review

RockmusicRaider Review - SAVN - Album CoverHere comes SAVN, who was lauded (by some, not all, mind you..) as the breath of fresh air into an already dead (or kind of dead) genre that too many bands tried to ride into oblivion. Well, hells bells, not quite – this would more be like beating a dead horse and then killing it in the end. And besides, the genre is far from dead anyway – lots of good stuff coming out of it still.

So, what is this Norwegian act Savn and for sure, what is their debut album Savn all about. Already there and judging by its name there are the masters of creativity at work to find a name for the album?

Evanescence – Evanescence (2011) – Review

RockmusicRaider Review - Evanescence - Album CoverHmm! What a total and sad downgrade from the heights of Fallen to this album, named right after the band’s name Evanescence. Only that the evanescence – true to its name – of this gig seems to have finally disappeared completely.

First signs of this to happen already appeared in their former record The Open Door, where one could observe a certain lack of direction and oomph, but still some good stuff to cover there, though.

This one here, however, tops it in the negative arena. Evanescence sounds like Amy Lee propped on top of a bunch of studio musicians. And it is exactly what it is.Got hooked? Raid this some more...
