Intermittent Digest – Tome VI

RockmusicRaider - Intermittent Digest - Tome VIWell, before the back office overflows with material, we better launch a new edition of the RockmusicRaider world-famous (ahem…) Intermittent Digest series. This will let off some steam and things will improve – hopefully.

The Tome V Edition was already substantial, but 2017 has been on the fast-track ever since with an enormous amount of material released to date. This includes many big bands that churned out their newest records right around fall of this year with a lot more still to come. On top of that the end of the year looms already with the inevitable top ten coming up fast, following the 2016 edition. So let’s get going with Tome VI without further ado.Got hooked? Incursed – Amalur (2017) – Review

RockmusicRaider Review - Incursed - Amalur - Album CoverThe blasted July 2017 EP The Slavic Covenant of Incursed did not impress the RMR deck crew. Too many oldies and not enough goodies, I can tell ya. Bands need to produce new, awesome material that is unique and people will want to hear. Not endlessly regurgitate old stuff or go for weird pop covers. The mighty Symphonic Metal front chicks from Exit Eden recently tried to pull that pop cover stunt as well. The outcome was – well – bizarre to say the least. With tracks ranging from juvenile wet dreams to age-old pop disasters that we all hoped would stay dead. But that will be for a different review, if ever I find the time. Got hooked? Raid this some more...

Alestorm – No Grave But The Sea (2017) – Review

RockmusicRaider Review - Alestorm - No Grave But The Sea - Album Cover“Rum, beer, quests and mead. These are the things that a pirate needs!” By Davy Jones’ beard, only one band throws a chorus line like that at the audience. And only one can be reviewed whilst under the influence without a ticket from grammar police. These are the alcohol guzzling sea dogs of Alestorm. Let’s face it: When Christopher Bowes and his gang of merry pirates have another go at a record, fun and cheap booze are on the menu. And their 5th full length album No Grave But The Sea is absolutely no different. So, uncap your bottle, pour and unleash the metal waves rolling in from pirate country.Got hooked?
