RockmusicRaider Video - SAATE - The Conjuring - Video CoverThe RockmusicRaider officescape is usually not too keen on publishing videos. More often than not you get them YouTube clips working exaggerated theatrics on a bed of low-fi MP3. And in tandem frequently hacked to death like a killing by Freddy on a full moon night through atrocious camera work.

But hey, sometimes the mix just works. So happened with SAATE, a Swedish Metal band. Their newly released offering The Conjuring mixes sturdy metal musicianship with a tasty storyline. Nothing overdone or overwrought, though, the recipe to success is right on. I like the slight menace emanating from the clip, and rightly so. After all, they conjure up the demon and it is here to stay.Got hooked? Raid this some more...

RockmusicRaider Newsflash - Malacoda - Ritualis Aeterna - Album CoverMalacoda flapped about the RMR offices mutual conscience for a long while already, like one of them big fat vampire bats. The ones from places where the moon reigns supreme with its big, shiny fangs. Their EP Ritualis Aeterna initially released in December 2016 and now got on global distribution by this January 2018.

Named after a character in Dante Alghieri’s Inferno, Malacoda takes the idea of Gothic Metal to a next level. The band paints this vivid, slightly decadent debauchery of soundscapes in bold baroque and Victorian strokes. Some sort of a delicious, epic pandemonium, slightly reminiscent of Kamelot with a hint of Fleshgod Apocalypse and early Xandria at times.

Despite its shortness, Ritualis Aeterna conveys a sense of symphonic, darkly melodic complexity that may repel you with its tendency to gripe electronically at first.Got hooked? Raid this some more...

RockmusicRaider Review - Deathless Legacy - Rituals of Black Magic - Album CoverUnholy chanting in the dark, invocations of the daemon, bodily fluids freely streaming down the altar. Oh, lusty Black Mass, where art thou? Well, we got Black Metal outfits like Riti Occulti or – again – Darkend that cover this kind of topic. And it has been covered before and will be the subject of future records, I am sure. Then, you got those pretenders with the pig heads on stakes, pigs blood and chicks on crosses. Gorgoroth comes to mind with their 2004 performance in Krakow that almost got them in touch with the Polish jailhouse rock.

Yet, from time to time we find some others, adding a dramatic Borgia flavor to the these shenanigans straight from the crypt.Got hooked? Raid this some more...
