RockmusicRaider Newsflash - Xaon - Face of Balaam - Album CoverThe wicked prophet is loose with his donkey again, facing the sword wielding angel! Or something of that nature. And in Switzerland to boot.

If an EP serves – as the lore goes – to show the skills of a band in their early days, then the Swiss band Xaon hit dead center with their upcoming, self-released album Face of Balaam. Expecting some watery #metal concoction, I was stopped dead in my tracks by this tsunami rolling over me. And by Loki, these guys serve an intense and aggressive brand of their favorite #metal muesli they for sure crunch for breakfast.

And talking about early days: Xaon formed in 2012 already, but apparently had some issues finding the right sound and direction for a while.Got hooked? Raid this some more...

RockmusicRaider Newsflash - Ancst - Moloch - Album Cover

Talk about fury! The ingredients? Unlimited rage and blackened, crusty Hardcore Metal. Throw in some melodic elements and ready is Moloch, the first full length studio album of the German band Ancst.

Their somewhat unusual credo of wanting to be – and I quote “anti-fascist, anti-sexist, anti-religion, death to NSBM” adds some additional spice to the overall delivery. Now, whatever their beliefs or drivers may be that keep their boat afloat, the quality of their rage-ridden #metal just blew me away. From within their somewhat noisy scream landscape, the blackened and steel-hardened #metal hammer Ancst throw at you just takes you along a pretty wild ride, compelling you to listen to the bitter end, glued to your seat. Got hooked? RockmusicRaider Review - Svalbard - One Day All This Will End - Album CoverWhat happens if you name a band after an archipelago splashed into the Arctic Ocean?

Well, the Bristol based band Svalbard happens, releasing a surprisingly crunchy début full length and amazingly crusty Hardcore Metal album called One Day All This Will End, signed to Halo of Flies Records. Recorded and mixed by Lewis Johns at The Ranch, Southampton. Mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. LP Cover Art has been delivered by Serena Cherry. The record was released on 15 December 2015.

And put on your crash helmet when listening: Svalbard serves you with this blindingly hot #metal stew, still keeping the record easily accessible and astonishingly well structured.Got hooked? Raid this some more...
