It’s jolly good that RockmusicRaider‘s scope is wider than the old gods allow. To cover metal, rock, and folk in one giant sweep indeed gives us leeway larger than the swagger of Mick Jagger. So, in this sense, we can easily take on pieces that were not forged in the steely metal mills that other reviewers oblige themselves to operate in.

Instead, we can freely go to those places where rock’n’roll is still dirty, blazing hot, and the lyrics are steamy. Of a time-tested brand that never really changes. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.… [...] Click to raid more!

RockmusicRaider Review - ACDC - Black Ice - Album CoverAfter a long, indeed a very long waiting time (the former album Stiff Upper Lip released in 2000) our Heavy Metal wielding band AC/DC finally presented Black Ice. In 2008, no kidding, almost a decade later than the former record. Of course, with their track record, there is no urgency anymore. But I nevertheless hoped that something more would come out of them earlier. I am after all a big fan of them.

At first sight it is a more subdued form of their former more exuberant style. Kind of sounding dangerously like Krokus in places. You know, the Swiss

Okay, I get it – we write the Year of the Lord 2014 and this AC/DC record is so old it should already have turned to dust. Along with everything else that lived back then.

But you know what?

Back in Black did not descend into oblivion, far from it. And many of them bands are still present today. The ones that rocked through music halls already way back in time. Okay, admittedly a bit more worn out they are indeed these days and not so fresh anymore, but still commanding sizable audiences.
