Odd Tidbits: David Gilmour – Luck and Strange (2024) – Review

David Gilmour - Luck and Strange - Album Cover

Let’s jump off the feisty metal planet for a while, this whirlwind of pointy objects and guttural sounds. Time to step back and check out what other seasoned musicians are up to these days. Artists that had an undeniably massive influence on contemporary rock music without screaming themselves out of their vocal cords.

This time, the RMR crew took a fancy to David Gilmour‘s 2024 solo piece Luck and Strange. Yeah, him. The one that his daughter Romany so pointedly called “…that guy from Pink Floyd.” He’s no founding member of this world-famous Psychedelic Rock band, but for … [...] Click to raid more!

Iron Maiden - The X Factor - Album Cover

Let’s blame it on Iron Maiden‘s Dickinson, shall we? Some time back in 2025, the man himself commented on the happy birthday of The X Factor and asked the wide audience for their favorite tracks.1 And my point was, truthfully, that there weren’t any. And there still aren’t. Or are there?

Viewpoints overturned and ancient observations brutally squashed? Dusty pergament … [...] Click to raid more!

The band has been around since 1997 under the current moniker, but for some reason, the act never clicked with the RMR crew here. Well, let’s just blame it on the inconsistent release schedule, shall we? The last record aired back in 2018 after all.

But what really and always pulled us back from launching a all-out review were the glowing reviews this piece got from … [...] Click to raid more!

Flashback: LDDSM take a Breath!

Los Disidentes Del Sucio Motel - Breath - Album Cover

Here’s to one small blurb I wanted to cover for a while. Back in 2021, Los Disidentes del Sucio Motel got some mileage out of RMR for their Polaris record. Not the easiest of fares and somewhat difficult to get into. But it was worth it and sufficiently out of the box to keep our interest levels up and sharp.

But since that particular record hit our review pipe, nothing much happened. So, very late in 2023 and in full listing season, LDDSM launched Breath at the public. At the worst possible moment, I might add. Unsurprisingly, the EP lost … [...] Click to raid more!
