Power Metal hasn’t been much in play for the RMR zine this year. The malevolent undercurrents of the metal underbelly gained a lot more heft and that went to the detriment of the Metal o’ The Light. The Swedes from Hammerfall rose to questionable fame this year, being the only Power Metal outfit to date in 2024 on RMR. And that lands us with Veonity and their new piece The Final Element. More Swedish metallic power to embellish our somewhat overly daemonic stance on this year’s roster.

Evermore‘s 2021 debut Court of the Tyrant King appeared somewhat reluctantly on the RMR ‘zine. Only in 2022 did it dawn on us that tyranny can make for great Power Metal. So, here we were, comfortably late – and totally surprised by that steady stream of astonishing Power Metal roaring toward us from an unknown band.

Is it a good idea to review a reissue of an older record and Power Metal to boot? Probably not. Many a metalhead will cringe in (often imaginary) pain and leave this ‘zine screaming. After all, the cheesy flavor of those power folks is no better than the horrific terrors of glam. Right?
