Niviane – Queen of Phantoms (2025) – Review

Niviane - Queen of Phantoms - Album Cover

Niviane. The last time we looked at the band was in 2017 with their debut The Druid King. A record that just couldn’t convince us despite multiple listens. Even attempts to invoke the Stockholm syndrome didn’t quite work out that well. Their 2020 concoction The Ruthless Divine sailed past our shores unseen. Quite unsurprisingly so. This is one of these acts changing labels for every one of their records they reluctantly choose to release and not everyone of them is connected to the good ol’ RMR office tower.

Whenever I ask one of my non-metalhead friends to fire up some metal, they hit one of Metallica‘s tracks. Damn. But who are we kidding? Ever since the Grammies forgot to do research and just handed prizes to the loudest American band with the worst and yellowest album covers, Thrash Metal got undue credit and false fame. Tumenggung would like a word. And they’re not necessarily the freshest on the block anymore. In 2007 they saw the light of day … [...] Click to raid more!

KingCrown – Nova Antlantis (2024) – Review

KingCrown - Nova Atlantis - Album Cover

Power Metal is a scarce commodity over at RMR this year. Don’t ask me why, the crew here usually likes itself a lusty slab of juicy metal. But – alas – pickings have forever been meager so far.

But now, late in the year, KingCrown spake, and their voice is mighty. To the point that the old geezers over at the Review Desk suddenly got jolted awake by some earthquake, good ol’ Poseidon caused over on the Atlantic sea floor. Welcome to Nova Atlantis. Oh, and careful with that trident. Just sayin’.
