Rise to the Sky - Two Years of Grief - Album Cover

Methinks we just covered another one of Sergio González Catalán‘s musings. And sure enough, it was Winds of Tragedy, the blackened branch of this one-man band’s two-sided artistic spigot. Yet, the RMR crew had some reservations about that one with some elements that wouldn’t quite fit the mold.

Now, Rise to the Sky is back with Catalán on safe territories he knows best. And that is Doom Death Metal filled with weeping strings, soaring guitar riffs, and the relentless raw roar that is the man’s trademark. Every Day, A Funeral already impressed us with its sorrowful prowess. A … [...] Click to raid more!

Raider - Trial by Chaos - Album Cover

One would think that anything with ‘Raider‘ in its band name should get onto this webzine. To the point that some of ’em started fantasizing about meeting Juliet, which – of course – wouldn’t have ended well. A case for the RMR security squad armed with oversized tasers and tranquilizer guns.

And those records always rolled in on a reasonably short airtime of 36-39 minutes or so. All of that filled to the brim with a crazed medley of elements, … [...] Click to raid more!

Runemagick - Beyond the Cenotaph of Mankind - Album Cover

Runemagick, yet another band that sailed past our mighty lighthouse unnoticed a few times. And that means their two offerings since their resurrection in 2017 – Evoked from Abysmal Sleep and Into Desolate Realms – got no attention. And no doubt about it, too. RMR was a different animal back then. We had too much material on our plates to immediately realize that an age-old DM band had just returned from the undead with a new album.

Runemagick proved to be pretty prolific over time, too. I counted some 13 full-length records since 1990,1 some of those signed … [...] Click to raid more!
