The Dutch band River of Souls crossed our hawse way back with their pretty corny debut The Well of Urd. And a doomily powerful concoction it was, served on a foundation of the old gods’ shenanigans. One that wore out one or two of our turntables, by the way.

Now they’re back in the preparation loop for their upcoming new record called Usurper, due out mid-May. We just got ahold of their teaser Of Pit and Snare, their newest clip and it promises many metallic delights.

Do you remember Red Cain and their 2019 hot metal piece Kindred: Act I?

Well, for those who don’t, the band hails from Canada. And they famously made us work more on their stuff than was absolutely necessary. And it looks like they’re gonna continue doing that in 2020.

Rotting Christ. Some already hate their admittedly contentious band name. Others continually take issue with their ever-evolving metal style. On top, they’re often labeled Satanists, and shunned by fellow musicians and states alike.

Fancy an example or two?

In 2005 Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine forced Rotting Christ off a gig in Athens, stating personal religious beliefs. Or more recently, in 2018, Sakis and Themis Tolis were arrested in Georgia after stepping off a plane. On grounds of satanism and – hold on to something – terrorism.
