Ah, the Satanik Panik is back amongst us yet again. Allegedly. At least judging by the flame-ridden album cover and the entry monologue on the first track. All of that comes from a band geniusly called Witch Piss, no less. A work of ‘art’ that’s so typically late ’70s, I want to go find a time machine and correct this ever-returning theme.

Oyez, oyez, oyez, ye people of the lowlands! Wolfbastard are up to their gruesome ways again. And their fury is blazing hot, enough to chase Lucifer away. The last time over, they mercilessly hammered robed priests to a pulp. This time, they take an unholy liking to broken bottles in dark street corners. It’s a blood-soaked business, this punkish Black Metal thing.

It is true. Somehow, the reviews over at the RMR Review desk don’t seem to match the mood of the year in question. In 2024, the reviews were somber, virulent, and abrasive when the year was in relative control. In contrast, 2025 caught itself a mellower clutch of albums over at the RMR review desk, when these endless 12 months are a fucking disaster to put it mildly.

A double-tap, that’s what Waldgeflüster had in mind this time. Knochengesänge (bone chants), they called their newest piece of art. A tandem going for a whopping 109 minutes of airtime. That’s usually a no-go for this crew. But hey, the things we do for the Forest Metal gang. We just hope that they got a good compass; these are vast wooded wastes out there. And you surely wouldn’t want to get lost out there. Else, some evil witch, Bruder Hain1, or Rübezahl will get you just good. And you won’t get out of there anymore.
